DR. Janet Schrodi
Janet Schrodi DMD, MPH is a pediatric dentist, an orthodontist, and an Invisalign® specialist. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UCLA and then went to Harvard University where she earned her doctoral degree in dentistry and a master’s degree in public health. She then completed a residency in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry at UCLA. She has also completed numerous special education courses in Invisalign® including the Master’s Course as well as the Aligner Intensive Fellowship.
Dr. Schrodi provides standard braces as well as Invisalign® for children, teens and adults! She uses advanced Invisalign® treatment method that make Invisalign® treatment faster. She can facilitate tooth movement so that people using Invisalign® can safely change their aligners every 3 or 4 days instead of changing them every 14 days! This greatly reduces treatment time and allows people to have the smile they want in a much shorter period of time.
As an Invisalign® specialist, Dr. Schrodi can use Invisalign® to treat complex cases in a reasonable amount of time. She treats all teen and adult cases with Invisalign® including cases that require extractions, canine exposures and orthognathic surgery (jaw-corrective surgery).
As a pediatric dentistry and orthodontics specialist, Dr. Schrodi can offer truly comprehensive care. She is a proponent of ultra-early prevention and helps prevent babies from acquiring cavity germs. She takes care of all of your children’s dental needs and then can seamlessly take care of any orthodontic needs that arise. In fact, parents will often have their teeth straightened with Invisalign® or clear braces while the kids have standard braces! For appearance conscious teenagers, Dr. Schrodi specializes in teen Invisalign®.
Her academic honors include graduating with honors from UCLA and Harvard as well as winning a student research grant from UCLA in 2002 and an AADR student research fellowship in 1999. Results from her study were published in 2002.
Dr. Janet has also won awards in preventive dentistry. From 1998-2000, as an Albert Schweitzer Boston Fellow and as a recipient of an AADS/Warner-Lambert Preventive Dentistry scholarship, Dr. Janet created and implemented a caries prevention program where underprivileged children received oral health education, a visual dental screening and dental sealants using portable equipment.
Dr. Janet is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the San Fernando Valley Dental Society.
As the daughter of Korean immigrants, Dr. Janet is very grateful for the opportunities and the education she has received in the United States. She enjoys giving back to society through volunteer work. Such activities have taken her to Vellore in India, Cochabamba in Bolivia and Ensenada in Mexico. More locally, her volunteer work has been reported in The Bulletin, a publication of the American Association of Orthodontists (2008) and in The Daily News (2009).
Dr. Janet is happily married to her husband Yann who is a native of France and a Professor of Chemistry at California State University at Northridge. Together she and her husband have two children who are pictured here. Dr. Janet speaks French and Spanish.
Dr. Helia Jafari
Dr. Helia Jafari completed her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at Rutgers University, New Jersey. After completion of her undergraduate program, she then moved to Los Angeles and attended University of Southern California at which she received a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
Dr. Jafari has always valued giving back to the community. As a dental student, she volunteered at local and international clinics including Ayuda Dental Clinic at Mexico and Peru, which provides dental care to underserved population, John Wesley Community Health Institute, which provides free dental services to homeless individuals, as well as The USC Mobile Dental Clinic that treats children in low-income communities.
She received her Orthodontics Specialty degree from Georgia School of Orthodontics in Atlanta, Georgia where she received 3 years of specialty training in traditional orthodontics, invisalign, and dentofacial orthopedics. Her career also includes private practice experience as a general dentist treating pediatrics patients in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Jafari is fluent in both Farsi and English. She is licensed to practice dentistry in both California and Georgia. She is a board certified orthodontist. Dr. Jafari is passionate about the field of orthodontics and loves the rewards and challenges of this field. She is committed to providing evidence-based clinical orthodontics. When Dr. Jafari is not working she enjoys yoga, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Katerina Zakharova
Dr. Katerina Zakharova obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She completed her orthodontic residency program and earned her Master’s in Science Degree at the University of Minnesota. Having her Master’s degree helped her to learn how to practice evidence-based dentistry.
After becoming an orthodontist, she keeps on staying up to date with the latest technology and newest treatment approach by taking various continuing education courses. Dr. Katerina is a certified provider of Invisalign aligners. She also took multiple Invisalign courses in order to be able to treat more complex cases with the aligners and provide her patients a various treatment options depending on the lifestyle and personal preferences.
Excellent patient care and the best results for each patient are her priority. As her patient, you can expect to be treated with personal attention and receive comprehensive quality orthodontic care, utilizing the latest technology including Invisalign aligner therapy and newest appliances. Her professional goal is to make every patient to feel satisfied and happy with their orthodontic experience while obtaining their best smile possible. Dr. Katerina Zakharova enjoys working with children and adults. Dr. Katerina Zakharova is a member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and California Association of Orthodontists.
In her free time, Dr. Katerina Zakharova enjoys reading, travelling, hiking, running, playing piano, spending time with her family and friends and supporting her community by attending local events.
