DR Janet Schrodi

Pediatric Dentist

Janet Schrodi DMD, MPH is a pediatric dentist, an orthodontist, and an Invisalign® specialist. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UCLA and then went to Harvard University where she earned her doctoral degree in dentistry and a master’s degree in public health. She then completed a residency in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry at UCLA. She has also completed numerous special education courses in Invisalign® including the Master’s Course as well as the Aligner Intensive Fellowship.

Dr. Schrodi provides standard braces as well as Invisalign® for children, teens and adults! She uses advanced Invisalign® treatment method that make Invisalign® treatment faster. She can facilitate tooth movement so that people using Invisalign® can safely change their aligners every 3 or 4 days instead of changing them every 14 days! This greatly reduces treatment time and allows people to have the smile they want in a much shorter period of time.

As an Invisalign® specialist, Dr. Schrodi can use Invisalign® to treat complex cases in a reasonable amount of time. Have you ever been told that your orthodontic case cannot be treated with Invisalign®? Please see Dr. Schrodi for a second opinion. She treats all teen and adult cases with Invisalign® including cases that require extractions, canine exposures and orthognathic surgery (jaw-corrective surgery).

As a pediatric dentistry and orthodontics specialist, Dr. Schrodi can offer truly comprehensive care. She is a proponent of ultra-early prevention and helps prevent babies from acquiring cavity germs. She takes care of all of your children’s dental needs and then can seamlessly take care of any orthodontic needs that arise. In fact, parents will often have their teeth straightened with Invisalign® or clear braces while the kids have standard braces! For appearance conscious teenagers, Dr. Schrodi specializes in teen Invisalign®.

Her academic honors include graduating with honors from UCLA and Harvard as well as winning a student research grant from UCLA in 2002 and an AADR student research fellowship in 1999. Results from her study were published in 2002.

Dr. Janet has also won awards in preventive dentistry. From 1998-2000, as an Albert Schweitzer Boston Fellow and as a recipient of an AADS/Warner-Lambert Preventive Dentistry scholarship, Dr. Janet created and implemented a caries prevention program where underprivileged children received oral health education, a visual dental screening and dental sealants using portable equipment.

Dr. Janet is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the San Fernando Valley Dental Society.

As the daughter of Korean immigrants, Dr. Janet is very grateful for the opportunities and the education she has received in the United States. She enjoys giving back to society through volunteer work. Such activities have taken her to Vellore in India, Cochabamba in Bolivia and Ensenada in Mexico. More locally, her volunteer work has been reported in The Bulletin, a publication of the American Association of Orthodontists (2008) and in The Daily News (2009).

Dr. Janet is happily married to her husband Yann who is a native of France and a Professor of Chemistry at California State University at Northridge. Together she and her husband have two children who are pictured here. Dr. Janet speaks French and Spanish.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Hu received her dental degree from the University of Florida in 2007. Thereafter Dr. Hu went to New York where she completed a two-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Lutheran Medical Center. During her residency, she learned principles in hospital dentistry, treatment of medically compromised patients and treatment of patients with special needs or developmental delay. For the next two years while in private practice, Dr. Hu also worked as a clinical professor supervising AEGD residents at Columbia Dental School and at the Lutheran Medical Center. This is when Dr. Hu discovered her passion for working with children. Always eager to learn and to become an expert in her field, Dr. Hu then completed an additional residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in New Jersey. She graduated in 2013 and then moved to sunny California!

Dr. Hu loves working with children of all ages, from infancy to late teens. Her goal is for children to have healthy and beautiful smiles that will last a lifetime. She understands that many children are afraid to see the dentist. She wants children to learn that visiting a dental office can be a wonderful educational experience. Dr. Hu treats children gently and compassionately. She always “explains” and “shows” before she starts procedures with children. This technique, “Tell-Show-Do” brings much comfort to many children.

Dr. Hu is an expert with children who have special needs such as autism, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, and Down’s syndrome. Dr. Hu recognizes that excellent oral health requires parents, children, and dentists to work together towards the same goal. She also understands that each patient has unique and individual needs. For this reason, she takes time to educate parents on how to prevent dental disease through proper oral hygiene practices as well as maintaining a nutritious diet that is low in sugar and processed foods. If a child ever needs treatment, Dr. Hu strives to educate parents so they understand the proposed treatment.

In addition to her professional credentials, Dr. Hu has a very unique cultural background. Dr. Hu is ethnically Chinese and was born and raised in Pakistan. For this reason, she speaks four languages fluently including Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, and English! Dr. Hu is married and maintains an active lifestyle with her husband. Together they enjoy travel, cooking, rowing, and hiking.

DR Kathryn Fabella-Cheng

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Kathryn Fabella Cheng (Dr. Kat) is a caring pediatric dentist who is committed to providing a fun and positive experience for children at the dentist. She specializes in treating children in all aspects of pediatric dentistry from preventative care to emergency procedures.

Dr. Kat was born in the Philippines and moved to the San Fernando Valley when she was 11 years old. She had poor oral health growing up attributed to lack of dental access and education about the importance of oral health. She attended UCLA before moving to New York City where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from NYU. She then moved to Connecticut to continue her professional training with Yale New Haven Hospital where she received her specialization in pediatric dentistry. She is happy to be back home in San Fernando Valley treating patients and serving her local community.

Besides being a pediatric dentist, Dr. Kat is an avid dog lover. In her spare time, she enjoys walking and playing with her two dogs, Mr. Porkchop and Mr. Biscuit. She also loves to spend time and travel with her husband and two boys.
