She takes care of all of your children’s dental needs and then can seamlessly take care of any orthodontic needs that arise. Thereafter Dr. Hu went to New York where she completed a two-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Lutheran Medical Center. For the next two years while in private practice, Dr. Hu also worked as a clinical professor supervising AEGD residents at Columbia Dental School and at the Lutheran Medical Center. This is when Dr. Hu discovered her passion for working with children. Always eager to learn and to become an expert in her field, Dr. Hu then completed an additional residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in New Jersey. She graduated in 2013 and then moved to sunny California!
Dr. Hu loves working with children of all ages, from infancy to late teens. Her goal is for children to have healthy and beautiful smiles that will last a lifetime. She understands that many children are afraid to see the dentist. She wants children to learn that visiting a dental office can be a wonderful educational experience. Dr. Hu treats children gently and compassionately. She always “explains” and “shows” before she starts procedures with children. This technique, “Tell-Show-Do” brings much comfort to many children.
Dr. Hu is an expert with children who have special needs such as autism, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, and Down’s syndrome. Dr. Hu recognizes that excellent oral health requires parents, children, and dentists to work together towards the same goal. She also understands that each patient has unique and individual needs. For this reason, she takes time to educate parents on how to prevent dental disease through proper oral hygiene practices as well as maintaining a nutritious diet that is low in sugar and processed foods. If a child ever needs treatment, Dr. Hu strives to educate parents so they understand the proposed treatment.
In addition to her professional credentials, Dr. Hu has a very unique cultural background. Dr. Hu is ethnically Chinese and was born and raised in Pakistan. For this reason, she speaks four languages fluently including Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, and English! Dr. Hu is married and maintains an active lifestyle with her husband.
